Who We Serve
Programs for children and adults with diverse needs.
Rich at Heart Therapy Horses serves children and adults with a wide range of physical, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Our programs are individualized to meet each participant where they are.
Autism Spectrum Disorder
Horses provide a non-judgmental, sensory-rich environment that helps children and adults with autism develop social skills, emotional regulation, and communication abilities. The predictable structure of sessions creates a safe space for growth.
PTSD & Trauma
The calming presence of horses helps individuals process trauma in a way that feels safe and grounded. Equine-assisted therapy has been shown to reduce hyperarousal, build trust, and promote emotional healing.
Cerebral Palsy
The rhythmic motion of horseback riding mimics the human gait, improving muscle tone, balance, posture, and coordination. Therapeutic riding provides physical therapy in a joyful, motivating context.
Down Syndrome
Our programs build confidence, improve motor skills, and foster independence for individuals with Down syndrome. The bond with horses enhances social interaction and communication skills.
Anxiety & Depression
Working with horses reduces cortisol levels and increases oxytocin, promoting calm and connection. Participants learn mindfulness, self-regulation, and the power of being present in the moment.
Developmental Delays
Equine-assisted activities stimulate cognitive, physical, and emotional development in children with developmental delays. Each session is tailored to the child's unique needs and pace of learning.
Veterans
Our programs honor the service of veterans by providing a therapeutic outlet that addresses PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and readjustment challenges. The horse-veteran bond offers a path to healing outside clinical settings.
